The Big Miss

It’s been a very long time since we have put anything out here on Own The Shows. It’s time to dust off this blog with a new entry! I’m going to take a little bit different path and not review a TV Show or a Movie , not even something in Music I will be reviewing a book!  Tiger Woods has been in the media spotlight pretty much his entire life , in the last couple of years it hasn’t always been for the most positive things. I have always been a big fan of Tiger the golfer and when Hank Haney Tiger’s ex-coach wrote a book I absolutely had to read it.

An Idiot Abroad – The Bucket List S2E1

I have been a big Ricky Gervais fan for a long time now. I love The Office and the American version of The Office , also I’m a huge fan of The Ricky Gervais Show on HBO. It’s there where I discovered Ricky and his partner Steven Merchant’s friend Karl Pilkington. Karl is a very simple British man who is very content with living a very simple normal existence. That lease on life has provided Ricky and Steve with a platform to push Karl to his limits which provides lots of comedy on An Idiot Abroad.

The Devil Inside

Own The Shows is back in 2012! I figured there would be no better way to kick our 2012 off with a blog about a movie dealing with demon possession! I have always been one to enjoy a good horror movie and sometimes even a bad one. I don’t scare real easily now I will admit I am a sucker for something randomly jumping out or coming around the corner , I will definitely jump and yell on ya! Out of the countless horror movies I have seen there has only been one that ever really bugged me that was The Exorcism of Emily Rose ironically enough it dealt with demon possession also. Saying that I have no earthly idea why I decided to see The Devil Inside but I did. I should have known better when walking into the theatre and the quote on the sign with the movie title on it says “No Soul is Safe”

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

Tom Cruise is back for the latest installment of the Mission Impossible franchise, reprising his role as Ethan Hunt top agent for the IMF (Impossible Mission Force). I’ve had mixed opinions on this franchise the original was a solid movie, the second was terrible and the third was really good. This kind of seemed like overkill to make a fourth movie but I checked it out anyway…..

Finding Some New Music

I have been blessed with a lot of things in my life which I am very thankful for. Unfortunately though I was not blessed with any musical talent or ability what so ever , I can’t play and instrument or sing at all! With that being said I have always had a big place for music in my heart and a wide range of it , you can find something from just about every genre in my Itunes library. Recently I have stumbled upon some new music (well new for me) that I have really loved. Read more »

Battleship

I don’t write on here very often anymore but I saw a movie last night that I felt the need to write about. I checked out the movie Battleship starring Taylor Kitsch( Tim Riggins from Friday Night Lights). The film based loosely based on the Hasbro board game Battleship was directed by Peter Berg. I don’t even know where to start on this one……

Sons of Anarchy S4E14 To Be Act 2

I realize this is a few days late but there is a reason behind why that is. It honestly took me till now to formalize my opinion of the season finale of SOA. When I watched it on Tuesday night I’ll be completely honest I thought it sucked. Pondering it for the last few days , I still don’t think I like it , but I can understand now where the great Kurt Sutter was coming from. Read more »

Community – “Regional Holiday Music”

Typically I’m not a fan of holiday episodes or musicals, but tonight’s “Community” gets a huge thumbs up from me. The Greendale gang nicely blended each character, some long running bits (like the Greendale Human), Dean Pelton’s coercion, and out came gold. Read more »

Sons of Anarchy S4E13 To Be Act 1

The most intense season of Sons of Anarchy continued tonight as we got the first half of the two-part season finale. Life in Charming has been crazier than ever this year and the boys find themselves in more trouble than they have ever been. The main question coming into tonight was Did Opie kill Clay?  The answer is……… Read more »

Tuesday night a 9pm means two things to me,  Sons of Anarchy which in turn makes me sit on the edge of my seat with my butt clinched for an hour! Tonight was no different as the most intense season of SOA hit an all time high with the penultimate episode before the two-part season finale.
